Nearly 1 in 5 residents of Travis County are uninsured. Many Central Texans struggle to access healthcare and other resources to meet their basic needs. The Nest Project provides free mobile community services to bridge this gap.

Free Mobile Community Health Services and Basic Needs Resources

The Nest Project expands on TogetherAustin’s success with our first program, VaxTogetherAustin, which has resulted in the administration of more than 20,000 COVID and flu shots. In addition to free vaccinations, we plan to begin offering a range of services such as basic first aid and wound care, diabetes education, disaster preparedness resources, and more, tailored to the needs of your community.

  • We serve vulnerable communities in Central Texas, building on the relationships we have developed through our free mobile COVID-19 and flu shot clinics, including people experiencing homelessness, victims/survivors of family violence, immigrants and refugees, older adults, and people with disabilities.

TogetherAustin coordinates the delivery of free mobile community health services and essential resources. Through our partnerships, we can bring a range of services to meet people where they’re at in the community, from workplaces and schools to shelters and encampments.

Knowing that people are more likely to seek and obtain healthcare when other essential needs have been met, we strive to provide whole person care. We work with other organizations to assess the needs of the clients they serve and to fill whatever gaps we can. Our partnerships with organizations like Meals on Wheels of Central Texas has connected older adults with vaccine appointments, while also aiding their winter preparedness with free blankets, hand warmers, and cold weather apparel. Our sponsorships with Magnolia Musical Theatre and ZACH Theatre have expanded arts accessibility for people with disabilities and older adults, helping more people to experience joy and connection as we educate audiences about the importance of vaccination.

Funding will allow us to offer free additional resources and health services, tailored to community and organizational needs, on an ongoing basis to a wider range of settings.
